The Best (And Actually Useful) Interior Mods for the Toyota Tacoma

There are a lot of modifications you can make to your Toyota Tacoma, but the most often overlooked aspect is the interior. The interior of your Tacoma is essentially a blank canvas that you can personalize and make yours as well as add some creature-comforts. Since the interior is the one part of the truck you will probably see the most, why not add some cool and actually useful modifications? Here are 10 of the best interior modifications for your Toyota Tacoma and where you can get them.

OHL Pro MagSafe Phone Mount

One of the most useful accessories I added to the interior of my Tacoma is the OHL Pro MagSafe Phone mount. I previously used the Scosche Magnet Mount (Which I still do to mount things like my Midland MXT275 Radio), I changed phones to an iPhone with MagSafe mounting and didn’t want to buy a new magnet and put on the back of my phone case.

The cool thing about this phone mount is since it’s MagSafe compatible, it not only holds your phone up but utilized wireless charging to keep it charged while you use your maps or anything else you need pulled up on your phone.

Being on some pretty bumpy trails, I was worried that the magnets wouldn’t be strong enough to hold the phone up but honestly it’s so strong that my iPhone 14 Pro doesn’t even move when doing some mild rock crawling.

JDM CAR Cup Holder Liners

If you’re like me and hate stuff rattling around in your cup holders, or hate how hard it is to clean them (especially with how many there are), then the JDM CAR Cup Holder liners are a cheap and simple way to solve those problems.

They are available in a lot of different colors (including paint matched) to spice up the interior and take care of that rattling and make the cup holders super easy to clean. Personally, I went with black to match my all black interior but these are the best cheap “mod” I’ve done.

A little heads up, they do come with some extra pieces as they don’t have separate kits for manual and automatic transmissions.

Clazzio Seat Covers

If you’re like me and many other Tacoma owners, the cloth seats are probably your least favorite part. Clazzio, a well known brand in the seat cover and Tacoma worlds, are awesome seat covers that are made to custom fit your Tacoma seats so they look like they came out of the factory that way.

They are available in a ton of materials such as PVC, Leather, Suede, and Vinyl so you can customize your interior exactly the way you want it.

Z Precision Large Cup Holders

One of the biggest inconveniences with the Tacoma is the size of the cup holders. When you try to bring along larger water bottle like a Hydroflask or Camelback, you’ll notice quickly that they either don’t fit at all or sit crookedly in the cup holder and fall out whenever you slightly tap the brakes.

The Z Precision cup holder is a super easy and affordable way to increase the size of the cup holders in front of your shift knob so you can easily fit those larger bottles. Instead of putting a large bottle adaptor that isn’t very stable, these are actually cup holder inserts that are larger and look OEM.

Tacoma Lifestyle Skinny Can Holder

A lot of companies are starting to make their drinks in skinny cans which make them super convenient to carry around… until you need to actually put them in your cup holder. Tacoma Lifestyle came out with a super inexpensive insert that fits into the odd square spot in your Tacoma’s cup holder. This ensures that your skinny cans won’t slide around or spill whenever you're driving around the city or hitting the trails.

Desert Does It Seat Jackers

A huge complaint about the Tacoma is the lack of leg room and uncomfortable seating position that you especially notice on long trips. The Desert Does It Seat Jackers are a super simple and affordable way to give yourself a little extra leg room while fixing the seating position in order to keep you comfortable no matter how long your road trip may be.

Cali Raised LED Center Console Molle Panel

The interior of the Tacoma has a lot of great places to store gear but when you start adding things like a GMRS radio or even if you’re looking for a place to keep your EDC there aren’t a whole lot of options.

The Cali Raised LED Center Console Molle Panel adds a super simple way to organize your gear and mount it where it’s easy to reach and access. Since it’s a molle panel, there are a ton of different mounting solutions and gear you can store.

The design allows you to attach things on the sides of the center console on both the driver and passenger side. Plus it’s super simple to install.

Teton Workshop V2 Shift Knob

The OEM shift knob on the Tacoma isn’t much of a looker, plus with the materials it isn’t super durable if you were to accidentally scratch it or just from everyday wear and tear. The V2 shift knob from Teton Workshop is, in my opinion, the best looking aftermarket shift knob. It’s made from high quality aluminum with a matte black finish. Plus the side pieces come in just about every color so you can personalize it to your liking AND they are interchangeable so you can swap them out at any time.

Garmin Dashcam Mini + Dongar Dash Cam Adapter

A dash camera is a great way to give yourself some piece of mind when you’re driving around the city. Most dash cams though are big and bulky and get in the way of your eyesight and just aren’t that great quality.

The Garmin Dashcam Mini is a super small dashcam that can be placed just about anywhere and doesn’t impact your field of view very much.

Paired with the Dongar Dash Cam Adapter, you can actually place the Dashcam Mini behind your rearview mirror and plug it into the back of the mirror so you don’t have cords hanging everywhere.

Smart Liner All-Weather Floor Mats

If you take your truck on a lot of adventures, you’ll notice that your floor mats get super dirty. Especially with my truck and off-roading in the Ozarks, there is a lot of mud and dirt that I track in just about everyday.

The Smart Liner All-Weather Floor Mats have honestly saved the floorboards of my Tacoma by trapping all of the mud, dirt, and water and making it super easy to clean after a day out on the trails. Since they are custom fit for the Tacoma, they contour to the floor boards to ensure even if you have standing water, it won’t reach the carpet.
